Environment

The actions of the State of the African Diaspora in the area of Environment are twofold :

-Advocacy. SOAD fights for climate justice. In 2022,

SOAD received from the UN a mission to organise the UN conference for Youth and Envvironment in Africa. The topic chosen was climate reparation. A a matter of fact, Africa contributes only to 5 % of climate change, but 2/3 of the damage will be and is already in Africa. So who is going to pay for all of this ? This campaign that SOAD launched for climate justice contributed to the great victory that was achieved in COP 27 in Egypt : for the first time ever, the principle of climate justice was recognised by the international community. Now it needs to be implemented in terms of payment. That is the next step.

-Infrastructure. SOAD fights for the 17 Sustainable Goals (SDG), as defined by the United Nations.

This vision will be implemented through our infrastructure, in particular through the smart cities SOAD is working on. All of them will have to comply with these SDG. They will create a better environment pour our Pan-African population, respecting the nature in which we are all living, and we all need to protect. That is why SOAD is also a member of the World Fund for Development and Planning, which is an Intergovernmental organisation, the mission of which is to support in the Global South all the infrastructure in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
