Created by UNESCO, the Slave Route lists the main places of memory linked to the transatlantic slave trade. However, it is difficult to really follow this route, to actually go to Angola, then to Congo, Ghana, Portugal, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Jamaica, Surinam, Brazil, etc. This is why, the State of the African Diaspora State is working to create the Digital Slave Route.

It will allow all those who wish to do so, without having to leave their homes, to visit the places of memory related to this painful history, which must be shared and taught. And having thus made this virtual visit, the Internet users will undoubtedly want to go to the place, to visit the places in an effective way… The objective is to tell the past, explain the present and prepare the future.

So far, the State of the African Diaspora has contacted many authorities in many countries, so here are already the first places that will be on the website : Badagry (Nigeria), Bois Caïman (Haïti), Diamant (Martinique), Mwanga (Congo), Nanny Town (Jamaïca), Ouidah and Allada (Benin), Porto Seguro (Togo), etc.
