Summary:
Mr Hugh Johnson elected new President of the
ECO-6 Community Authority
On July 5, 2021, a meeting was organised of the Heads of State/Heads of Government/Heads of Territories (the Community Authority) of the Economic Community of the African Diaspora 6th Region (ECO-6); in accordance with Article VIII of the founding Treaty of ECO-6.
During the meeting, Mr Hugh Johnson of the State of the African Diaspora was unanimously elected as the first President of the Authority of ECO-6.
Mr Hugh Johnson made the following statement:
“I am humbled by the support and confidence shown to me by the Leaders of ECO-6. I pledge by God’s grace to do my best to establish an institution of dedicated Leaders to enable us to achieve our stated objectives. Looking forward to all Members of ECO-6 in playing their part in advancing the global Pan-African community through generational wealth creation and full economic independence for all. Thankyou”
According to the decision that was made, the term of the Presidency is for 3 years, which is not renewable. The Secretary General of ECO-6, Dr Louis-Georges Tin congratulated Mr Hugh Jonhson and declared :
“The Secretariat is glad to announce this election. The fact that it was unanimous shows Mr Johnson’s strong credibility. He has a great mission to achieve, and we shall support him throughout his tenure.”
