RACISM

Racism and Discrimination

Racism, Sexism and Gender-based Violence are priorities of the State of the African Diaspora.

That topic falls under the portfolio of our Minister of Home Affairs, Mrs Alice Nkom. She was the first woman to become a lawyer in Cameroon, and for many years, has been fighting against racism, homophobia, and has received several awards for her endeavours for human rights.

In 2022, she also became one of the 10 members of the UN Permanent Forum for People of African Descent, a body created in 2021 by the UN General Assembly. And she is now the Vice President of this Forum. The mission of this UN body is to fight against racism in general, and in particular to write the draft of a resolution against racism, that should be submitted to the General Assembly, and hopefully accepted in the coming months.

The State of the African Diaspora is proud to have this cooperation with the United Nations through its Minister of Home Affairs, Mrs Nkom.
